Amlodipine is in a class of medications called calcium channel blockers.
It lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard.
If you have been using this medicine regularly for several weeks, do not suddenly stop using it. Stopping suddenly may cause your chest pain or high blood pressure to come back or get worse. Check with your doctor for the best way to gradually reduce the amount you are taking before stopping completely.
Why is amlodipine being recalled?
One maker of Valsartan, Amlodipine/Valsartan and Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide is recalling certain lots of these medicines because they may have small amounts of an ingredient which could cause cancer.
